Goondiwindi State Primary School
Goondiwindi State Primary School is part of the Darling Downs South-West Region of Education Queensland. Our school provides state primary education for students in Goondiwindi Town area and the surrounding Queensland Shire of Waggamba.
Goondiwindi is situated the junction of six national highways on the Queensland-NSW border four hours west of Brisbane. Our school is also a base for specialist teachers providing educational services to the surrounding small schools in the MacIntyre Cluster.
Approximately 120 students enrolled at our school travel across the state border each day from the adjacent New South Wales Shires of Moree Plains and Yallaroi and in particular from the communities of Boggabilla and Toomelah.
Our state school is coeducational and offers educational programs, from Prep to Year Six. Approximately 75% of the primary aged students from the Goondiwindi area attend our school. Due to growth in the local rural economy the school enrolment increased significantly about ten years ago. High retention rates throughout the year levels since then has ensured that this enrolment has been largely maintained.
